FRIEND: FRIENDS OF SIMILAR SIZE is a Los Angeles based project by artist Melanie Nakaue specializing in jewelry as wearable fine art objects. Viewing each item as a functional sculpture, FRIENDS OF SIMILAR SIZE focuses on highly unique one of a kind pieces, with an aesthetic appreciation and re-interpretation of shared experiences, objects and processes. Each season will focus on a unique theme/concept, and the individual pieces in the collection will function individually to interpret and create a dialogue with the other items. This first season: Abject Beauty focuses on daily bodily processes that draw us together and how to look at these processes as alternative methods of making sculptural objects.
